Case Study: Winston Churchill Owners

Winston Churchill Owners is a 333-unit market rate multifamily residential co-op in New York City. Electricity and natural gas are supplied by Con Edison Company of New York. Heating and domestic hot water in the building was supplied by two original low-pressure oil-fired boilers, and chilled water was supplied by one original single-stage absorption chiller.

Objectives

The building hired En-Power Group, a NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Partner, to put together a comprehensive plan to reduce energy consumption by a minimum of 20%.

Our Solutions

We performed an on-site assessment which identified numerous energy savings measures, including oil-to-gas conversion, chiller upgrades, lighting upgrades, boiler upgrades, the installation of new domestic hot water heaters, and the installation of a CHP system. EN-POWER GROUP met the aforementioned goal at an overall project cost of $2.1M, not including the CHP system.
